Signs that you're in Central America

by: Adam Bertulli | posted in: Globetrotting
When you step foot in another country, things feel strange. You’re still a human being standing on the Earth. You’re still surrounded by other people, cars, and houses. Why do you feel so different? The signage. Road signs and other signs are easy to pass over as their message is often short and sweet. They’re also unavoidable in their own way, which is a good thing because they can be very helpful and/or important. This temporary distraction during your travels usually isn't enough to jolt you into a full culture shock breakdown. Instead you are absorbing a continuous subtle reminder you are indeed very far from home. It’s the little things when traveling that equally throw us off and delight us. And signs always seem a lot more charming than what you’re used to back in your home country. Let's take some time to appreciate these great, weird, funny, beautiful, and unique signs of Central America.

Usually signs like this note that there are children playing, but there's no way that could be a child, right?

To be fair, this could be a sign you see in other countries. But there's only one Scrumpy and he lives in Belize.

I wish all road signs had this level of graphic design.

I think someone messed up, but I am glad they did.

My imagination is doing cartwheels right now about what this could possibly mean. Which is recurring theme with a lot of these. Maybe you feel the same way. Guess we'll just have to head to Central America to find out!
