On the first day, begin at Piazza Navona, the most picturesque square of Baroque Rome. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the cobblestone streets while taking in the glorious Fountain of Four Rivers. Toss your coins in the Trevi Fountain and then feast your eyes on the Pantheon, a meticulously preserved temple dedicated to the Pagan Gods. With the Roman Forum behind you, your guide will escort you to the hugely impressive Gladiator Gate, an alternative entrance reserved for select tour operators. Make your way inside the Colosseum while walking in the footsteps of Gladiators and beasts. Once the tour has concluded, you are free to remain inside the monument as long as you like.
The following day, meet your guide a few steps away from the Vatican Museum Entrance. Bypass the queues with your guide and head directly inside the Vatican Museum where you will take in the highlights of more than 1,200 galleries, including the Rooms of Raphael, the Sistine Chapel and the Ancient Roman and Greek pieces in the Belvedere Courtyard. Learn about the background of the Sistine Chapel, from its commissioning to the finishing touches. Access St. Peter's Basilica, built over what are believed to be the bones of St. Peter. Included are Michelangelo's Pieta and dome as well as works by Bernini and Raphael. Your guide will also lead you through the underground level referred to as the Vatacombs, a rarely seen area of the Vatican where tombs of the former popes are located, where your tour concludes.
