This six day adventure is perfect for anyone seeking to experience both the natural beauty of India, in addition to its rich and vibrant culture. You will embark on a journey that will take you from elephant safaris to tea tastings, village visits, and more!
On day 1 of this tour you will see three villages (two Khmu and one Hmong) as you trek through some of the most stunning jungle around Luang Prabang with expansive views afforded by a slight ascent along your trek. Well enjoy lunch at Hmong village next to a small lake. The trekking this day is intermediate (to difficult in some areas if wet from rain) for about 5-6 hours total before arriving at a beautiful Khmu village where we will spend the first night homestay. Enjoy a Laos style dinner at the village prepared by your Lao guide.
On day 2 wake to breakfast, pack your bags, and say your farewells as we depart on another day of about 4-5 hours of jungle and rice-paddy trekking. Today well pass through a Hmong village overlooking Luang Prabang, descend a short trek off the mountain where we will stop to take lunch in bamboo huts used by locals when tending the rice paddies, and conclude the hike by arriving at a Khmu village situated on the banks of the Nam Khan river that we will kayak on the following day. Feel free to take a swim in the river. Youll enjoy it after your two days of trekking.
On day 3 our crew will deliver the kayaks, pick up your backpacks, and see your group off as we embark on a day of kayaking, waterfalls, and optional elephant and zip-line riding. Well kayak about 40 minutes down to the Tad Se waterfall. Whether you choose to ride them or not, elephants are part of this tour as they are bathing in the waterfall and being ridden into the jungle. Well serve lunch when youre hungry from swimming. If you dare brave the heights, spend an hour of this time soaring through the trees on the kilometer of zip-lines stretched through the canopy of trees. When everyones ready, well get back into the kayaks for about 2-3 hours (depending on water levels) of kayaking past jungle, villages, and locals fishing to our final pick-up before driving back to Luang Prabang city.
This safari starts in Maun on the 11th November we suggest you overnight in Maun after flying in the day before. We collect you at 10am and we drive 2 hours to Moremi Game Reserve where we check in and let air out of our tyres! We then drive to Xini Lagoon where we set up camp whilst you have your lunch. We have two nights and will explore this lovely area with it’s beautiful lagoons and Palm Tree landscape.
After 2 nights our camp is packed up whilst we are out on our early game drive and we will move out of Moremi and into the adjacent Khwai Concession area. In addition to our normal game drives, in this area we can drive off road and get out of the vehicle at the guides discretion and do night drives. The Khwai River is beautiful and attracts many animals at this time of the year.
On the 15th November we drive further North with our camp and stay at a stunning site next to the flowing channel at Savuti, for a further 3 nights. There should be predators galore at Savuti at this time of the year and the Channel and Marsh will be attracting 1,000’s of animals and birds. We are setting up our camp in full view of the river and our rest period will be a photographers dream!
On the 18th November we again pack up our camp and move further North to the Chobe River where 1,000’s of Elephant and Buffalo will be utilising the Floodplain for the dwindling nutritious grasses that grow there. We will have a 3 hour boat cruise on the Chobe that may well be the highlight of your trip! Our camp is only a few minutes from the river and the sunset with the sun setting over the Chobe Floodplain will be memorable and we will have 3 chances at it!!
The Safari finishes in Kasane the next morning, the 21st November 2015 – we can take you to the airport or to the Zimbabwe Border if you are transferring to Victoria Falls.
Our classic itineraries offer a chance to see the most iconic of Botswana’s destinations- the Okavango Delta and the Chobe Game Reserve. They conveniently begin in Maun and in Kasane (or can operate in reverse) allowing for easy onward travel and for our guests to incorporate Victoria Falls into their itinerary. With either 9 or 10 nights they are short enough for most people’s holiday schedules but also long enough to not feel rushed. This itinerary offers time in both the Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai River area of the Okavango Delta. It also explores both the Savuti and Chobe Riverfront Area of Chobe National Park.
July 31’st & August 1’st- We collect you from the airport or your hotel if you have chosen to overnight in Maun and take a leisurely drive to the Moremi Game Reserve where we spend two nights.
August 2’nd, 3’rd & 4’th. After an early morning drive and breakfast we game drive to the Khwai Community Area where we spend 3 nights adjacent the Khwai river. Your time here includes a 2 and a half hour long mekoro (dugout canoe) trip on the Khwai River.
August 5’th & 6’th. On August 5’th we drive through to Savuti having lunch along the way. We have only 2 nights to explore this dynamic region- famed for large numbers of predators as well as a site where ancient Rock paintings can be seen.
August 7’th, 8’th and 9’th. We leave Savuti and head further North to the Chobe Riverfront. The Chobe Riverfront hosts spectacular numbers of elephants and other large game such as buffalo and lion. We spend our final 3 nights here, enjoying spectacular sunsets over the floodplain each evening.
August 10’th- the safari finishes in Kasane or we can arrange for your onward transfer and stay in Victoria Falls.
